Holding On

With the tide
your contact tells
a story felled
in familiar tones

Carrying the one
most like you
in the vast sea,
your progeny

Watching in wonder
the power to protect,
to save,
to hold on

We marvel admiringly
the heart of a whale
Yet tear apart
many

Seeking
to hold on to their own

Walking Trail

Where there's a place
that calls my name
from distant days

Where there's us
that climbs in trees
and follows
a bee or butterfly

Few the times
we bridge from yesterday
to the walking trail ahead
holding hands

In between the days we lose
hanging on
to places
that are gone

Not One Letter

Light is gone away
again from these times
wanting

A place not there,
faces
not aware
how closely they follow

Light is gone away
from readying my stay

In the shadow of together,
not even one letter
sees today
