Gliding through the night
wondering
how far the ice will hold
These flashes
vivid, gliding flashes
Floating
Singularly
though not alone
Shadows cloudy
familiar shadows
disturb life's useful hum
The sun with a different sort of face
hardens our soil
Impenetrable
walled to hide blank space
Time simply disguised
dissolves
photographs unfolded
in a clouded mind
Places
once central
pushed outside
To rewind, reexamine,
still left behind
Useless chapters
unfinished, unmeaning
tell a blank story
of missing dreams
