Pond

Our pond is frozen again
just in time for skating
around and round
riding the balanced skid

Then, thaw
in between seasons'
transformation

Grasping at foundation
as skating shifts
into walking

12/27/2011

Limbs

Dusk and all is one
dark beauty
reaching up
limbs stark

Openly arrested in daylight
by the cold and grey

Our limbs extend
bend
lend
tend

Dusk and all is won

In the Still Hollow

I silence
the call

My voice buried in the still hollow,
first of all

Meandering
unmarked roads
where answers do not thrive

and wonder dies

12/17/2011

Billow

Hear imperceptible tones ring,
inherently fragile hearts beat
billow
sing

Senses metronome side to side
Ride without aim
or blame
the same daily dosage

How it connects to any insulating mechanism
used to distance heaviness'
menacing windchill

Indigenous

Indigenous
to here with you

elements align
on their own time.

Wind chimes
wait

for the breezy melody.

11/24/2011

Subsidized

Light rising above
indifference
filters in through every crease -
crevices too thin to fill

Bold Light
freely showered
never shy, never cowers

To make subsidized
what may have been declined

11/10/2011

Fear Again

There goes fear again
masked quicksand

Leading by the throat,
cuffed by yesterday's goodbyes
It shouldn't surprise
so fiercely
when there goes fear again

That blanket
moth-eaten

10/25/2011

Emptiness Makes Room

Walk away
as emptiness measures
its gaps to bridge,
how far fullness means

See
it can't be measured

either the gap left
or the room for truth

10/24/2011

Capacity

Shadowy role-play
carrying empty names
claims not their freedom
into day

Sideways reflection
in hand-held sunny wandering
where avenues return, discover
entrance into rest

directing our gaze above

10/20/2011

Resting Hands

A cabinet houses
each stone

Years flow by
studying them all
in turn

Open, peer, hold,
relinquish

Time to close
bronze doors,
resting folded hands

Remember
treasures stored within

Mined,
polished, known
in preparation

for their settings to be designed

Window Seat

Some claim aisles
vertical,
straight up
or down

As watching traffic passersby,
politely step aside

and miss the view

Window seat passenger,
her thoughtful gaze
upon the wing
a disruption-free surprise

Never so alive as through your eyes

10/17/2011

Transparency

No trade-in value,
clarity for transparency

Crooked, displaced edge
(of faded blue earth)
where columns topple
inward

A mere dusty footprint
in misplaced glory

Patina

Air,
dust,
tarnish,
fading watercolor.

Wrinkled weave
decorates each step.

Patina reveals
itself
for self
to be.

What else is there
to inherit?

10/12/2011

Cue

Even when the curtains close
touch remains

Above,
between,
through

A step, a cue
silently taken

A life
touching through

Falling Reason

Part I

Reasons dance
and fall

A Curtain, numbing,
hides the sky

in winds of questions
where answers float
beyond these walls

*

Part II: Exuvial Flying Flies

Fragments catching light
floating,
suspended in the eye

Their shadows quiver,
blur direction
steadily

Exuvial memories

trapped beneath lines of vision
in the mind

No way of leaving self behind

Stained Glass House

Can this window
remain open

Can I breathe
and ask for my eyes to be taken

Aching for color
when all is grey
then wishing for grey
on a clearer day

Let my house be of stained glass
or let me be

forever in the dark

9/24/2011

Earth-grown Lace

Alive with patterned design

Colors that speak
to heart
when mind is cold

Branches share
views of sky,
aware our eyes

glance there
when walking free

9/13/2011

Filled

Emptied

the rooms
echo in pause

as sitting amidst the space
creates

the fullness of a thousand
palace chambers

8/31/2011

Silhouette

Tonight
watching
minutes flow, like rainbow silhouette
strained
through gold

I see you
with me
noticing the light fall

where it starts and stops,
and starts again

8/28/2011

Carrying

Shimmer fading . . .
pond mirrors soft light

Illuminates

Where hearts stood still,

awakened in silence

8/26/2011

Ever Reach

Twine cuts into these hands,
open hands

A twisting of threads
strong enough
to carry lightning thoughts;

shred
into the skin
of my open hands

8/05/2011

To Float Far

Water
runs down my face

pumping through
every mile
walked barefoot
on stones

Can you see
the water

I want to float
let me

float far

from all that is
running
down my face

7/21/2011

Glass Suitcase

Here a heaviness

Where still air lingers
in suspended ventilation

Enigmatic,
hollow perpetuation

Two states blending
into one circadian rhythm

Chained to a glass suitcase
which though emptied

will not lift

Wind Chill

Caressing breeze
thaws
raw
discontinuity

Only to dance
upon the lawn
journeying far south

Glance at me -

Shatter a frozen mirror
clearer,
evaporating fear

7/07/2011

Crouching Teardrops

Listen
for the rustle of peace

Closing windows
to open doors of glass

Folding inward,

crouching teardrops
flow past
weary glance

S p a r e

Wondering casually
if the door is locked

then wondering
'what is casual ' ?

Along with a flash of gratefulness
for warm gloves, boots
and hooded jacket,
the door opens.

Perhaps 'casual'
is my memory
finally
recalling the hidden spare key

as thoughts to lock out life
have already prepared for recovery.

Terrarium

Don't have to have these imprints, so long ago,
'just a silly crazy girl '.

Much better for you,
a safety checklist -
Side effects,
cold stone-walls,
full-plate stalls.

Little chapters
for prisoners of shame -
we're all the same.

Each morning
film reels,

"Fragile wreckage;
Avalanche! Steer clear!"

of the temperature controlled glass terrarium.

Spare time for broken hearts
taken from youth,

I don't want to know
what was understood.

Invisibly Temperate

Is there incandescent wind,
a gentle brilliance?

Fresh, calm truth
invisibly temperate

filters in
where nesting remains.

Dive Into the Earth

Each stare,
a suspended teardrop

Too heavy
for this eyelid
pasted shut.

Anguish tide,
this shattered, scattered, terror tide!

Bellowing, violently enveloping
innocent breath, Oh!

Oh to dive into the earth
from whence it came,
for to implode mercy.

Let us dive!
